Quality surveys are a fantastic way for businesses to gain direct input from their consumers on how to best improve their current practices. The companies themselves, along with other stakeholders such as investors and consultants, can benefit greatly from a properly designed and executed survey. In order to be sure that a survey fits this criteria, there are four steps in the creation process that must be carefully followed.

Firstly, the overall purpose and goals of the survey must be decided upon. This includes determining which questions will be asked, what is the respondent profile, and what is the targeted timeline. Once these have been determined, it is time for the authoring stage, where unbiased and easily understandable questions are drafted up. It is important to make sure to avoid asking loaded, leading, or double barrel questions.

The third and fourth steps include executing the survey and then summarizing the information to help make informed decisions. Exporting the data out to Excel or other third party platforms can help transform it into a visual format that makes the analysis easier to conduct. Hopefully after the survey is completed, a company will feel more equipped to create and launch a successful strategy moving forward.
